It’s officially that time of year where all a person wants is to snuggle up to a honey and enjoy the cozy fall world. With the temperatures cooling down and the pumpkin spice candles lighting up, it’s fun to have a special someone to share that time with. That being said, it’s absolutely crucial to have fun in a new relationship but to also be careful and aware. You want to be cautious before getting swept up into a relationship, and here are a few different signs you might want to check into if you have to.

They’re constantly on their phone

Let’s be real, this is a period where you need to be getting to know each other, and you should be trying to communicate with each other, not your screens. If he’s constantly on his phone in front of you, it might say something about his respect for you when you’re trying to enjoy time together.

You have to be the one to make the plans

Early on, you should not have to do all of the work. It’s about balance, and there should be a meeting in the middle when it comes to initiative.

Jumping in too deep, too fast

As much as you want to jump in feet first to brand new, honeymoon phase love, be cautious as to what you talk about too soon. Whether it’s certain words or certain plans, you don’t want to get in too deep too fast.

They show off in front of their friends rather than include you in the joke

Sometimes, a person can get carried away with their sense of humor or their sarcasm, and put their new guy or gal down in front of the new squad. Be sure that your S.O. is aware of the joke, so they can poke right back. You also avoid premature arguments this way.

Inclusion/Isolation

Speaking of pals, make sure that you both spend time equally with each other’s groups. That way, you can have a variety of plans throughout your relationship. On the other end of the spectrum, although one-on-one time is crucial to your communication and chemistry, be sure that you’re not completely isolating yourself. You don’t want to lose all of the special folks and connections you had before this new relationship!

Mood Changes

If they can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds over something as little as choices in dinner or movie, chances are down the road the bigger arguments are going to be much worse. Plus, you don’t want to have to tiptoe around your S.O., you should be able to mesh well and work as a well oiled machine!

Dating is fun, and you want to make memories while creating a new chapter in your life. That being said, take it slow, and take it easy. It’s not hard to get swept up in the moment, but be sure you take yourself into consideration and be careful. All you want is your happiest self, and that’s all in your own hands to create!
