5 smoothie recipes for beauty from within

We all know that beauty starts on the inside. If you aren’t eating right and exercising, it won’t be long until you start to notice it physically. From your skin to your hair to your nails, and even to your healthy glow, all rely on a body that is getting proper nutrition.

So how can you make getting your nutrients easy and tasty? Smoothies! Smoothies are a great way to get your fruits and veggies in without much trouble. Just find a good recipe, throw the ingredients in the blender, and you are good to go.

Very Berry Purple Passion Smoothie

This one is as almost as pretty as it is tasty. It comes out as a creamy sweet and tangy treat that is great for kicking off your morning. 

INGREDIENTS

1 1/4 cup frozen unsweetened raspberries

¾ cup unsweetened almond or rice milk

1½ tablespoon honey

2 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated finely)

1 teaspoon flaxseed (ground up)

2 teaspoon lemon juice (fresh preferred)

DIRECTIONS

Put all the ingredients in the blender, add lemon juice to taste, and puree.

Berry Banana Flaxseed Power Smoothie

This is a smoothie that will help you get your day started and will give you energy to power through. The bananas work as a natural sweetener, while the oranges bring in a citrusy taste. 

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons whole flax seeds

1/2 cup orange juice, with or without pulp

1/2 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt

1 cup unsweetened frozen berries, your choice of type

1 small banana

DIRECTIONS

Grind the flax seeds in a dry blender.  Slice the banana. Add everything into the blender, including the flax seeds and blend until smooth.

Mango Avocado Sweet Surprise

Try adding a berry garnish for a beautiful presentation. While the avocado might seem like a weird ingredient for a smoothie, trust me, it adds a nice texture and you won’t even notice it’s in there. 

INGREDIENTS

1 cup mango

1/4 avocado

1/4 cup skim milk

2 tablespoons honey

2 teaspoons lime juice

1/4 cup crushed ice

DIRECTIONS

Peel, pit and chop the avocado and mango.  Combine everything in the blender until it is smooth.

Spinach Mango Green Machine

This may not look appealing but try it and you will see.  It is sweet, delicious, and super healthy.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cup baby spinach

1 c. frozen mango

1 small banana

Juice of 1 lemon

DIRECTIONS

Chop fruit and spinach if it is not already chopped.  Put everything in the blender and voila!

Chia Seed Cherry Delight

The name says it all. This one is a delicious delight for the taste buds.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup frozen cherries

1 kiwi

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon chia seeds

DIRECTIONS

Chop the kiwi, combine everything in the blender and puree until smooth and creamy.

These smoothies are all healthy, delicious and super easy to make.  The dream of any dieter looking for a whole food solution.  They’ll give you the satisfaction of feeling like you are “cheating,” even as you drink your oh-so-good-for-you snack. Even sub these in for a meal!
